CELEBRATING FIVE YEARS, SPECIALIZED THERAPY FOR WOMEN

Five years in, Del Ray-based Core Wellness & Physical Therapy now offering dedicated women’s health services

ALEXANDRIA, V.A., October 28,2014 — Local physical therapy and wellness clinic, Core Wellness & Physical Therapy, recently announced it will expand its services to include specialized therapy for women’s health needs. This growth coincides with the practice’s five year anniversary and adds to its existing services, including manual physical therapy, nutritional counseling, Pilate’s instruction, and comprehensive wellness instruction.

“Moving into specialized women’s services seemed like a natural fit for our practice as we close out our fifth year in business,” said Core Wellness & Physical Therapy owner and founder, Elizabeth Polis, PT, DPT. “Women of all lifestyles and life stages—athletes, those pregnant or with young children, weekend warriors, those peri- and menopausal, and beyond—have individual health needs specific to just being female. We want to provide a place where these women can discuss these issues in a private, comfortable setting while receiving specialized therapy to help address and correct them moving forward.”

The goal of women’s health physical therapy is to evaluate and treat the common yet complex conditions that affect women, while helping them learn to observe how their bodies are evolving over time. Some common conditions women can expect to address while receiving therapy include urge and stress incontinence, pelvic prolapse (and other issues related to child birth and pregnancy), pelvic floor pain, vulvodynia, and more.

The physical therapy office also marked this noteworthy anniversary by contributing to the local division of nonprofit, Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia, a physical activity-based youth program designed to develop and enhance girls’ social, psychological, and physical competencies inspiring them to be joyful, healthy and confident. The office will also introduce “Dr. E Essentials” via its website—a place where patients and the community can obtain recommendations for specific health and wellness tools.
